For a first offense involving a small amount as you indicated, you may be eligible for a “diversion program.” That means when you complete some community service, pay a fine or attend a class, the case will be closed and you won’t have a record. It’s your decision whether to plead guilty or not when you go to court. Once there, the process will be explained to you and then you can decide what to do or you can speak with an attorney before your hearing. Good luck.
