Dear Nathaniel: That certainly does not sound right and like a possible violation of the teen’s First Amendment right to freedom of religion. Not knowing the facts and circumstances, this is an issue the teen should discuss with his/her parents and ask for a meeting with the officer’s supervisor. If that does not lead any where, scheduling a consultation with a local attorney may be necessary. Thanks for asking.
