Growing Up, Q&A

Do I have to wear a helmet when I ride a motorcycle?

09.05.07 | No Comments

Would you skydive for the first time without receiving landing instructions? How about suiting up without pads for Friday night′s football game against your rival school? It′s common sense to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle, although some states don′t require you to wear one. In other states, however, anyone under eighteen is required to wear a helmet while on a motorcycle (whether driving or riding as a passenger). Check the laws in your state, and remember that wearing a motorcycle helmet could save your life.

The same goes for riding bicycles. A dozen states and about fifteen communities currently require children to wear a helmet while biking. Education about bike safety, less expensive helmets, and legislation have helped to increase the number of children in the U.S. who wear bike helmets.
