19-year-old Rachel J. Lee of Las Vegas, Nevada, knew what she wanted and how to get it. Dissing knock-offs, she coveted the actual designer clothes and jewelry of such celebrities as Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan.

A suspect turned informant disclosed that Lee would search the Internet for information about the celebrities. OnceĀ finding their addresses and when they’d be gone, she would brazenly enter the homes and take cash, family heirlooms and jewels. Some of the homes were poorly protected or even left unlocked.

In November, 2009, Lee was arrested for possession of stolen property. She allegedly ran a ring of teenagers who burglarized homes in 2008 and 2009. The group monitored Internet celebrity-gossip sites for information about their lives, including their vacation plans.

You may not be a celebrity, but still be careful about what you post online. You can become a victim of harassment, stalking, and cyberbullying by providing personal information about yourself.
