My niece and her mother went on vacation with me. While we were gone, my niece’s boyfriend, drove her car and wrecked it. He also fled the scene which makes me think he was high or drunk. My niece does not want to press criminal charges, but she does want him to be accountable for the damages to her car. (Sports car; sheriff department estimated 10,000 in damages) Car is a 2012 valued at $32,000 prior to accident. She has full insurance coverage. What steps should she take in accountability and restitution? Any other thoughts?
