The police have been harassing me for a while because my brother is a drug dealer and they want to scare me into flipping on him. I haven’t signed papers to become a CI because I don’t think the police should pay citizens for information; I believe they should do their investigations and build cases on their own. I don’t feel it is “playing fair”. So, to keep them from bothering me, pulling me over for no reason, pull in driveway then leave to embarrass me with my neighbors, etc., I have met with them and said I will think about it in an attempt to get them to back off. And for goodness sake, he is my brother!!! I guess my question, I have a lot but am trying to be as brief as possible…. The officer asked me for some other person they are building a case on’s phone number. Can they look into their records, call activity, texts without a warrant? I just found it odd that they say they are watching the person but need their phone number…. Why?
