we have a 13 yr old Grandson who was caught by the store owner along with a couple buddys, stealing a pack of cigarettes. The store owner said he would not press charges cause he caught them and got the cigarettes back. The police were called in and he decided to go ahead and press charges. This is his first problem. His parents said they just received notice they must appear in court on the 25th and must have a lawyer. They cannot afford a lawyer. Will the court appoint him one? They live in a tiny town called Sedgwick, KS just outside of Wichita. I imagine the courthouse is in Wichita, KS.
