My friend has been getting into a lot of trouble lately. He is 13 years old and stole roughly 3 thousand dollars from his mom. She dismissed it but then he stole again, $128. She chose to not report him until recently, He just stole another $500 from her and she is planning to file a lawsuit against him. This is his birth and legal mother. this will be his first misdemeanor as he has never been reported for any crime before. No idea if his mother plans to report all three thefts or just the recent $500 theft. He claims that the money is gone and that he spent it all. No idea what he spent it on though. He won’t tell me. Anyways, any idea of what punishment he might be looking at? If this is serious enough for juvie, what is an alternative? I don’t want to have to see him go to juvie if that is not the only option.
