I am a disabled veteran living in North Carolina, my 17 year old son skips school a lot. I know there are legal consequences for this, however if I go to jail for any reason for any amount of time the VA will stop my compensation benefits and this is the only income I have. My question is, can a parent emancipate their child if it is in the best interest for the other children in the family?
