Although your previous school could try to refer the matter to family court, it may not go far in the court system since you are completing your diploma online. The main concern of the court is whether or not you are violating your state’s compulsory attendance laws, which require you to be in school up until a certain age. Since you are enrolled in an online education program, then there shouldn’t be much concern of you violating your state’s compulsory attendance laws. Good luck in finishing your high school education and earning your diploma. (Check our Teen Help Network for more help and resources in your area. This is information only – not legal advice.)
