I am texting an inmate who has a smuggled cell phone. I never met this inmate. This inmate is in California state prison and I live in New York. He swears I won’t get into legal trouble for texting him. I don’t believe him what kind of legal repercussions can I face for texting/calling an inmate even though I did not provide the cell phone to this inmate nor have I met him.
