Yes, diversion may still be an option since the speeding ticket is a traffic violation and typically, separate from a criminal offense. As for whether or not it will affect the program you’re in for the speeding ticket, that just depends on the rules and policies of that program. If you have any paperwork or a signed agreement, refer to that to see the specific terms and conditions. Finally, your parents may not have to find out since you’re 18. However, if you’re placed on probation, then your probation officer may need to come to your house from time to time to check up on you. It may be best to be honest and forthcoming with them about this incident. They may be able to help support you through the case and go to court with you.
