We got evicted from our house September 1st, 2015. We got (2) Storage Units back at the end of August 2015. We started having difficulty paying our units in November 2015, because we run a Handyman Business and our slow times of the year are from November till February. We received a Lien Notice in the mail so, we made payment arrangements and had the Units brought current by February of 2016 all accept for the fees (which they said could be added to our regular Unit Rent for the following months). So, they were more than willing to work with us and understood our situation they said. Our phones got shut off because we were not able to pay our bill BUT they had our address to make contact with us through mail. My Mom got Hospitalized in April so, we were driving back in forth from San Diego (where we live) to San Francisco (where My Mom is in the Hospital). She had to have a Liver Transplant and is still Hospitalized. We almost lost her once so as you can imagine we have had a very stressful few months. We had forgotten to call the Storage Unit place to let them know of our current situation. When I called the other day to update them and see what we could do about getting another payment to them I was told that they had auctioned our items off. He said well I tried calling you (we had explained to him on more than one occasion about our phone situation, so he was aware our phones had been disconnected). I asked him why he did not send anything by mail letting us know our items were going to be auctioned off on such and such a date. He did not have an answer for me, other than well we just assumed you did not want your stuff. Everything we own is now “gone”. I have been online everyday for the past week trying to find an answer of how we can get our stuff back. We had furniture, appliances, Kitchen Items (Dishes, Pots, Pans, Glasses, Silverware), Bedding, All of our clothing, Jewelry, Important paper work for our business and Personal Paper Work, Family Photos EVERYTHING we have been told is GONE). I have done research all week long trying to find out how we can get our stuff back, only to keep getting the run around and running in to the same frustrating website with no answers!!!!! PLEASE HELP US!!!!!! I do not believe there is absolutely no way at all that we cannot recover our Storage Unit items. I need answers on what we need to do, to get our stuff back!!!!!
