This is a suit to modify parent-child relationship case. I am finished with temporary orders, and went to a bench trial to discuss final order information. However, now I am not able to do the final order, because my attorney did not file for it. It has been four months now. The court had a dismissal for want of prosecution scheduled, but then the attorney cancelled it. Now, another dismissal for want of prosecution is scheduled for two months later, and my attorney has yet to communicate the details of these actions to me. She hasn’t communicated with me period, regardless of calls, texts and emails. I cannot afford to hire another attorney, and I am worried for my ten year old son who has autism. So I want to do pro se at this point. Therefore, my question is: Am I able to fire my attorney, and then file the final order myself, or will the judge not allow me to do so?
