I’ve been playing soccer for two years now but I have recently decided to try and play in college. I really enjoy playing and I play for my high school team, but I want to get better. In order to do this I want to join a travel team and practice more often, buy my parents seem against this. My parents are kind of strict, but I see no reason for them to not allow me to train more. I’m a good kid, I always do what my parents ask, and I’ve always done well in school, but they won’t let me follow through with my decision. I want to go out and train more, but they won’t let me most of the time, and I feel like this is somewhat stupid because I’d just be stuck at home most of the time doing nothing (so instead of doing something productive I have to stay at home with nothing to do and hear my parents complain about how I don’t do anything). I’ve tried telling them this but they say there’s plenty to do at home if I get bored such as cleaning. I can’t make them understand how I feel so I’ve decided to just go and practice regardless of what they say. This is really out of character for me since I’ve always been an obedient kid but maybe this way they’ll realize how much this sport means to me. I’m scared of how they’ll react or how they’ll try to correct my behavior but I feel that this is the only way since I can’t get them to understand. Could they charge me or send me to a correctional facility if I did this, and do you have any other suggestions on how to handle this issue?
