As for both your questions, it’s going to depend on the specific facts and circumstances as well as the laws in your state. There’s a decent chance that falsifying legal documents could lead to legal consequences if you are caught just like lying to a police officer. You will have to check with your state’s laws on the matter. As for being at the scene of a crime, if the police believe that you were acting as an accomplice or somehow assisting the furtherance of the crime, then you may be facing charges.
