Another child had punshed my daughter in the face at school and an employee separated the two girls while they was fighting. No one got hurt. The fight had started due to my daughter creating an online acct with the other girls name and the word slut written between it. My daughter also posted a funny video of herself pretending to be the other girl which didn’t upset the other girl. The other girl was mad because she put slut in the name. She credited the acct at home the night before. my daughter was suspended for 10 days but was told she could make up all her work. My daughters punishment was for cyberbullying and the other girl was suspended for 5 days for assault. It doesn’t say in the handbook what the consequences are for each action It just states that the principle can suspended for up to 10 days but doesn’t state for which punishments. But under the assault section it says you may have criminal charges besides the punishment. It doesn’t state that under the cyberbullying. The other child has a family member at the school which is one of my daughters teachers and my daughter currently has a low F in that class because that teacher gave her 0s for everything. Most of the class work that’s for a grade is group class work. Since she was unable to participate in group she got 0s. I had asked for inschool suspension instead but was told no. The school officer was notified and he wanted to take the girls to jail for two days at least. My daughter has never been in trouble where she had to go the office in her life at school and she is 12. The officer said he had to do a report on it and turn it in and my daughter still might be charged. This is in Ark. Can they legally do this?
