Judge Tom
She is not considered emancipated or free from her parents just because she’s pregnant or after she has the baby. As a teen parent, she will have rights and responsibilities concerning the care of her baby, but she’s still a minor which means that her parents get to continue making decisions about her well being. This means that she cannot move out of her parents’ house against their wishes just because she’s pregnant. See our post about teen parents’ rights and FAQs for more information. Thanks for writing. (Check our Teen Help Network for more help and resources in your area. This is information only – not legal advice.)
