It depends on the “age of consent law” in the state where your friend lives. This is the law that sets the legal age limit when a person can consent to sex. It’s generally between 16 to 18 years old. You can click here and then go to your friend’s state for the specific law and additional information. If your friend is not at the age of consent in her state, her boyfriend could be facing very serious criminal charges. Good luck to your friend.

Judge Tom is the founder and moderator of AsktheJudge.info. He is a retired juvenile judge and spent 23 years on the bench.
