Dear Anon: The possible consequences will depend on the outcome of the police department’s investigation, which will be handed over to the prosecutor who will decide whether or not to file charges. You also may be facing some sort of criminal damage charge for the damage caused to your sister’s vehicle. If this is your first offense, you may be facing probation with community service, a fine and restitution to your sister for the damage done, possibly having to attend educational classes and counseling. Yes, your friend could be facing charges, too. Whether a case stays in juvenile court or is filed in adult court depends on a number of factors including that laws in your state, your criminal history and if you’ve been in trouble before as well as the policies of the prosecutor’s office. Talk to your parents or another trusted adult about this. Good luck. (This is information only – not legal advice.)
