I was visiting a friends’ house and her 8 year old admitted he accidentally broke the windshield of my car with his basketball. The mother of the child told me to go screw myself that she is not paying for it. Can she be held accountable for his actions? Under what statute? A police report was taken and both the adult and juvenile admitted this happened. It stated in the report criminal mischief was reported. This is in New York State.
