I have tried. My mother and I both have tried to side with him for years. They have joint custody. She doesn’t have the money to keep going to court. I have been wanting this for years. I can’t keep living like this. I have 4 years left till I leave for college and that isn’t much time. I want to live with my mother. We are so close. My father is mentally abusive. He causes me stress and the loss of friends. I can relate much more to my mother than I can him. He acts as if he has no feelings for me when I discuss the divorce. I truely want this and he seems to think it is fair to me. He loves to bring up the fact that life isn’t fair, but yet always asks how this is fair to him. He doesn’t care about me like my mother. He doesn’t recieve any action of sorrow for how desperate I am to make this change. We have tried to side with the courts. If I have to divorce my father I will. I honestly would have no regrets. My mother is willing to give any of her time up to him if that is what I want. She understands that every child deserves a say in this. She will make arrangements to see him if I ask. I honestly never will… I won’t be visiting him when I grow up. He knows this. He has a lot of cash and he seems to think money can buy him everything, the best lawyer, the ability to convince me to live with him(by electronics, gifts, etc), girls, cars, boats, jets skis, snow mobiles, trucks, love, friends, happiness, and more. He may be able to trick himself and my younger brother into thinking this, but he sure knows he can’t trick me.
