My dad and I have always had a rocky relationship. But within the past few years, it’s gotten to the point where I don’t feel safe at home. I am a high schooler, and I am a good student. However, I am highly medicated for depression and anxiety (mostly due to my dad). He will go on tantrums an get mad at me for little things just because his day at work was bad. Normally it’s tolerable, but there have been cases where he has made me consider suicide. He tells me I am worthless and a disappointment and says I need to respect him and I am rude. He constantly threatens to take/ and or destory my phone and computer. He has taken my phone and computer multiple times. This would be fine, however, my computer is mine. I got a job and bought it with my own salary. I am not okay with this an have informed him it’s theft to take my laptop. I don’t have much longer with them, but I am at my last straw. My mom loves him And he doesn’t do this to my siblings, so I feel guilty reporting him. But I am tired of feeling depressed because of him. Social services have been contacted once, when I fought back when he told me I had to walk the dog and I told him it was going to rain, and he got so angry he pushed me up the stairs, causing my leg to brake. He never apologized and never took responsibility for what happened. When I told my counselor she called social services, who decided not to do anything, but since then he has not layed a finger on me. The only other medical problem was when I got a blood clot due to medication and I told my parents I was in pain, but they thought I was lying and wouldn’t do anything until my leg was blue and I couldn’t feel my toes. This happened (in my opinion) due to stress from a church ceremony I was forced to do that week against my will by my parents. Anyway, eventually they took me to the doctor, and dis covered the blood clot, but I never told anyone why they waited because my mom claimed he felt guilty. I don’t know what to do, an I am at my wits end. Emancipation isn’t an option, an I feel guilty about calling the police, because of my mom. Why do you think I should do?
