Does a teacher have the right to force a student to temporarily surrender a cell phone or other personal communication device without reasonable suspicion of use? A teacher at my school requires students to surrender their cell phones before they can go to the restroom, whether they have a history of cellphone violations or not, and I would like to know if that violates any judicial precedent that I don’t know about.
