I’m 21 Years old. I was caught shoplifting some clothes and soda to get by. I don’t know how Ohio’s laws work, but I’ll request a court appointed attorney next week at court. But I worry about my sentencing, I hope to slide with probation or community service to pay off the inevitable fines. I just don’t want to do jail time. I read online first offense maximum penalty is six months in jail, is that true?? I hope to be reassured that this is confidential, but two years ago same charge with food. I was convicted with nine months probation and $500 in fines, it was a misdemeanor and wiped off my record. They won’t find that charge and charge me with second defense will they?? Even if it is from Michigan.? But It was dismissed and cleared off. I’m just scared.
