my son now 13, was expelled from school for sexting. I hired an educational attorney, but since the police have the phone we have no evidence. 7 months later the DA now has the case. I now have a criminal attorney. She thought that the DA would not purse the charges, but I retained for pre-something to see if we could avoid it all together. When my son was 12, he and his friends downloaded pics of very obese naked fat men. The school suspended them 2 days. Sine he has been in trouble for a similar issue, the DA is concerned that the kids have not learned their lesson. There are about 16 kids in associated with having sending and/or receiving teen semi-nude pics. At the on set, I got my son into a therapist, recently she terminated his therapy noting he had reached all of the goals and there is no need for further sessions. The DA asked our attorney for any and all exculpatory evidence, which we did. Is that normal? It just confirms that it was a like for like exchange, no criminal intent. I also agreed to get him into any program offered in exchange for no charges. We still have not had our school hearing as we are trying the reduce the year long expulsion to the end of the school year. He wants to join the freshman football team as well. We try to keep him active in sports so that he doesn’t get into trouble. In addition to him being expelled and attending months of therapy, we mow monitor his computer, his phone is in our bedroom at night, we have all of his passwords, He also went 5 months w/o his phone xbox and tv and we provided that info to the DA. She said the she would make up her mind at the beginning of the week, but we have heard nothing. Also he had no nude pics on his phone – he used Snapchat since they disappear. So what would you do? What else can we as parents do?
