My question is: My son took his personal flute to school to participate in the musical they were putting on, another student took his flute when they went to take a break and stuffed sheet music inside the flute. He did this on two separate days and admitted that it was a joke. Well, the flute was taken to get a repair estimate which is $150.00, now the school is telling me they cannot force the student who did the damage to pay for it because it is personal property and not school property. This school did not even follow through with their consequences to this student as far as rules in their handbook policy. This student is getting away with this. I was referred to talk to the school resource officer who in turn told me he would investigate and write up a report. I told him I would like a copy of the report and he told me I was not allowed. I thought that those investigative reports were public record. I do not know what else I can do here and I am just looking for the money so I can take the flute to be repaired. If you have any advice, I would appreciate it.
