My son was with a friend that got caught shoplifting a pair of sunglasses. My son did not know that his friend stole the glasses until they had already exited the store. His friend pulled out the glasses in the parking lot and showed them to my son and seconds later the police grabbed them. His friend admitted to stealing the glasses but they wrote shoplifting tickets to both individuals. They said it’s the policy and that they had to appear in court. The individual that took the glasses is 18 and my son is 17. Since my child had no knowledge of the act I would like to plead innocence and wondering if I should get a lawyer or just do it on my own. Thanks for any advice you can give.
