When I was 13 I was given a ticket for having a joint that my friend had put on my desk, I didn’t know what it was and obviously the school cop didn’t believe me. I was told to complete some sort of community service, they drug tested before and during the program and results always came up clean. I was not fingerprinted, nor taken to jail/arrested just successfully completed my service and I was told that my case would be closed/dismissed and not stay on my permanent record. My question is, I’m joining the air force and I’m a bit concerned about my criminal record, background check & secrete clearance that they do. I don’t want to be judged by something like that happened when I was 13 and was an honest misunderstanding. Should I mention it to my recruiter; or since I was told that It wont stay on my record not worry about it and forget it an it never happened. I really don’t want that dumb incident prevent me from serving.
