Yes, some schools prohibit “public displays of affection” known as PDAs. Take a look at your school’s Code of Conduct or Student Handbook to see if there is such a rule. You can check this on the school’s website or ask at the front office. The reason schools have banned hugging is due to incidents that go beyond a simple hug. Such a display isn’t appropriate in the school setting and tends to make other students and faculty uncomfortable. Good luck.
