My child 12 years old was invited to stay the night at a friend’s house. They have a walk in attic in the kids room that is unfinished. They had apparently been playing in it earlier, the mom told them to stay out. A few hours later they began playing hide and seek with the younger siblings. The boy that lives there told my son to come hide in the attic with him (mom says her son wasn’t in there), the boy told him to close the door, my son slipped and fell 8 feet through her ceiling. She yelled at him and told him to go home. He has to walk a block in the dark, and no one was home. My son called me, I rushed home to find him hyperventilating on the ground. I took him to the ER. -“about 20 minutes later the mom finally calls to tell me my son destroyed her couch and ceiling and she wants me to pay to fix it right now. She said her couch was $5000, plus her ceiling.
Am I responsible to pay for the damages?
