Since you were trespassing, it’s unlikely that asking for your school ID number violated FERPA. The police can ask for any ID, your name, contact information, they could even choose to arrest you since you were breaking the law. You (and your parents) could consult with a local attorney who handles education law matters for further information and advice based on the laws in your state. You can read more here about FERPA. Judge Tom is the founder and moderator of AsktheJudge.info. He is a retired juvenile judge and spent 23 years on the bench.
