Growing up as a kid, my mother was a strict Christian and raised me to be Christian. When I became a teenager I decided I didn’t want to be a Christian anymore, and we had alot of friction between us because of it. In short, she tried to keep me Christian, whether I wanted to or not. I’m an adult now, and plan on having kids one day. One thing I worry about is my mother trying to impose Christianity on my kids, which she did to me. Since I’m not Christian, I fear that it would turn my kids against me if I don’t convert. Also, since children are very impressionable, and their grandmother would be pushing them into her religion, I fear they would go along with it. I don’t want my kids to turn against me. With my future kids, I want to raise them without religion until they are old enough to understand what it all means, instead of just going along with what an authority figure is telling them to think. I want to know what my rights would be in this situation, and if there is any legal recourse I can take if my mother tries to go against my wishes.
