I am writing to ask your honest opinion about a relocation case involving my children. I currently reside in Saint Louis County, Missouri. Per our divorce decree, my ex wife sent a certified letter requesting to move. In my mistake, I did not properly file a motion to prevent the relocation in the family court. I honestly was not aware of the law that states I had thirty days to file a motion. I did respond to her letter through certified mail. In my letter I stated my reasons why I believe it is not in the best interest for our two children to stay in the state of Missouri. I am an active father, and I am devastated my children are going thru this. I also did not believe their mother would actually go thru with the move. She is now stating she plans on moving as of June first. What can I do to prevent this move from happening? I pay a lot of money in child support, and I can barely afford to support my own house hold. Let alone an expensive attorney fee. We do share legal and physical custody. Any advice would be truly appreciated.
