Student’s “hit” during marijuana speech – no hit with police

PreviousNext

A student in Purdy, Washington presented an essay on the legalization of marijuana Tuesday morning in the high school’s assembly hall before an estimated 120-150 people.  joint3At the end of his presentation, the student took out a joint, lit it and began to smoke it.  The student then sat down, finished smoking the joint and ate the remnants. Although some students admired the presenter’s boldness and standing up for what he believed in, the school officials contacted the school resources officer and immediately escorted the student to the office.  The officer found a small residual amount of marijuana on the student.  The 17 year old junior with a 3.7 GPA was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and transported to a juvenile facility.

i don’t think that kid should have been arrested he was making a point a statement. i smoke weed and it doesn’t affect me I’m also in highscool a junior about to be a senior with a 3.5 gpa.

    Judge Tom’s response:
Thanks for your comment Tony. Many people agree with you and believe that marijuana should be legalized or decriminalized. However, possessing marijuana at school is not just against every school’s policy, but it is also illegal. Best of luck to you with your senior year.
