At 17, I was charged with possession of a controlled substance. I was arrested, charged, and sentenced in a neighboring county, but my probation details were supposed to have been transferred to my home county. Neither my home county, nor the neighboring county’s courts have reached me in any sort of way. Knox county “suggested” 6 months of probation, with alcohol counseling (and they suspended my license for a year). However, since it was transferred to Anderson Co, and no one ever got in touch with me, does any of that even stick? I turn 18 in 2 weeks, and to my understanding, my juvenile record is supposed to be expunged. The Anderson County courts told my school counselor I was put on “county probation” but I don’t know what that means. If my sentence was transferred and the receiving county never contacted me, how am I supposed to know what I need to do? But beyond that, shouldn’t I just age out?
