Dear Jackie: We’re sorry to hear about your family’s situation. It sounds like your granddaughter is seriously struggling and needs professional help. Perhaps you could try talking to the school’s counselor to find out more about help/resources in your area. As for legal options, you could look into an incorrigibility charge being filed in juvenile court. You can read more about that option here. However, since she is cutting herself, ongoing counseling and treatment would probably be much more beneficial. Good luck to you and your family.
