Hello, my name is Declan, I’m 15 and I live in the UK.

Today I received results for a standard RE exam we had. I got a C. Almost a B mark wise. Anyway, so my teacher, whom is new to the school, kept me and about 5 others behind after class. He said he was running a session Monday AFTER school and said that we MUST attend.

I didn’t understand why, as all of us got c’s and b’s and I also don’t give a shit about RE anyway! So I then asked if it was a detention and he said NO. Just a waste of an hour to go over our exam..

Am I obliged to go? I’m not sure if there is a law behind this but he clearly stated that it was not a detention and I therefore feel that I don’t have to. I also feel that i shouldn’t be punished if i don’t attend?

Any advice legal and other would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Declan
