Dear Judge Tom,
My son is a senior in high school. He has an IEP. He has learning disabilities because of ADHD.
He was 5 minutes late to study hall because of going to the bathroom and the teacher gave him detention. He refused to sign the paper and refused again when the vice-principal tried for him to sign a document saying that the school would have the power to send him to an alternative learning school if he broke any rule. The vice – principal filed a petition for unruly behavior with the TN court system.
I admit that my son is very defiant and rebellious and does not get people on his side with his attitude. He also was sent to the an alternative learning school for zero tolerance problems 2 years ago and had to face the juvenile court system. I know that does not look good as a past offense but this time he hardly did anything (being late). Do we have any resources? Could he be expelled from school for this? How will this affect his college application? Will the counselor even agree to write a recommendation letter for him?
We have not received any documentation this school year . Thank you for any advice/suggestion you have.
