My son is now in 3rd grade. His 2nd grade year he missed a lot of school due to illness. I have Doctors excuses for all of his absences but the school success worker and prosecutor still pressed charges against me as his parent as well as reprimanded his pediatrian for writing him those excuses. My son was in fact sick with high fever and an obvious illness. So excuses we’re written. I go to trial ( non jury) on Oct 1st and I am representing myself because I can not afford an attorney. Is this even right? Can they charge me when he has been excused by his DOCTOR after he was seen by him and noted as obviously ill? Every time he missed i got a doctors note! Also he obviously didnt miss enough school to fail or fall behind as he passed second grade! What can I expect from this trial and what shoud I do? Thank you so much for your time.
