My friend stole from asda today but I did not steal anything I paid for all of my stuff and because I was with her I got arrested and charged for theft.
Though the cctv camera shows I did not steal nothing but because she passed me and packed her stolen stuff with my things with my stuff in my basket the police charged me.
I didn’t see her steal them as I was not paying attention I was looking at some one I thought was my ex partner sister who is currently on bail for domestic violence to myself so I never saw what she did. Originally she picked up some clothes and put in my basket which i completely forgot as all my things I brought and paid for covered them completely over. The police accused me and said I knew but I didn’t because I was scanning g my own stuff in the self check out and she took over and help me to use the machine as I was having problems understanding it but I mangaged to pay for ally goods and she stole not me. So I have been charged for theft and have to go to birmingham magistrate courts. What are my rights as I did not steal or participate in theft though I’ve been charged .on the cctv camera it dose not show me stealing I’m confused in to why ibe been charged. I need this off my name and to he cleared because o did not steal anything it’s not fair
