Hello Your Honor,

Thank you for providing this site that I have found very useful the least few days.

About 2 weeks ago, I was charged with shoplifting under section 13-1805 A.1 & 13-1805 A.3 under the amount of $500; Cochise County, AZ law. I have researched on your site and other places to see if my case falls under the diversion program. Yes, this is my first offense.

My questions for you, Your Honor, is:
1. Does the circumstances of my case and history qualify me for the diversion program?
2. When I appear at court for the first time, will the judge offer me the diversion program? If not, do I ask if I am qualified for the program?
3. If the judge denies me for the diversion program, do I plead not guilty and ask for a public defender (even if I told the truth and confessed to the crime)?

Thank you for your time.

Kayla
