Hello, I am 16 and I want to get emancipated by the time I am 17 and two months. i have about one year to get started. I have looked up about my state (VA) and its requirements that I have to have. I have to be able to hold a steady job for 6 or plus months, have my living arrangements made or coming together and my income (paycheck) has to be $750 or up. My parents have already told me they are going to go against it, but I feel that once I get a job and create my saving account, I can show the judge and my parents that I I’m financially and mentally ready to provide fro myself. I wanted to roommate with someone that I have known for a while, but this person is the opposite sex and is grown. How would the courts see it that I’m potentially moving in with a 20ish person? Should I find a female roommate to live in? What are your opinions about this? And how long does it take for the judge to grant emancipated?
