My husband and I own a log home in northern Michigan. The problem is his sister and her family have been constantly using it often without our knowledge. They gave damaged the building twice resulting in an insurance claim of over $16,000 and 1 year of repair time. I have directly told them they are no longer to use the home . I have changed the locks 3 times and posted private property and no trespassing signs each time resulting in my husband giving them the key or even leaving a basement window open for them to crawl through. I am on the building title as co-owner along with my husband. What are my rights in this situation where he gives permission and I don’t? Can I have them charged with trespassing and kept out? This is really very trivial and silly but it is literally tearing my family and 33 year marriage apart. He claims since he pays the mortgage and I don’t that I have no say. Any suggestions?
