Judge Tom
Dear Anon: We’re sorry to read what your family is going through with your brother. As long as he’s a minor (under 18), your Mom has the authority to provide for him, which includes placing him in a program, residential or not, that offers a program to change behavior (if this is an option). Also, your Mom could contact your local juvenile probation department to see whether a probation officer could speak with your brother about his behavior and the possible consequences including those for being truant. Finally, there’s the option of filing an incorrigibility charge with the juvenile court and letting a judge decide what to do about your brother’s behvior. Here is the link to more info about what that means and the process.
