Can a school take away your phone away from you if in the school policy stated that if the teacher sees your phone then they can take it away but the teacher didn’t see it in none of the class but in my 8 period class I changed into my gym uniform and when I went in the gym I opened up my book bag to put some pencils I had in my pockets then another student sees the phone and then the other student lies that I was using my phone and I wasn’t then then she tells the teacxher and the teacher takes it away. oo they have the right to take it away if I got late to school and I didn’t knowm who to turn it in to?

Dear Xavier: School rules regarding the possession or use of digital devices (including cell phones) are spelled out in the school’s Code of Conduct. You can find the rules in your Student Handbook or on the school’s website. Yes, they can confiscate your phone if you’ve broken one of the rules. Usually, you get the phone back at the end of the day or in a week or so. If you continue to violate the rules, longer periods may apply. Good luck.
