The First Amendment’s freedom of speech is a constitutional right cherished by Americans. Like all constitutional rights, it is not unlimited. The government may impose restrictions on certain kinds of speech to protect people and keep our communities safe. In that regard, such restrictions and limitations can be viewed as practical and necessary in protecting the people of this country. However, it can be argued that the government’s limitations on certain kinds of speech may be overreaching and violate one’s free speech rights. Every year there are tons of cases that make there way through the courts to challenge a person’s freedom of speech. For more on this issue and to get an idea about the kinds of cases being argued, your can read more posts about freedom of speech. Thanks for asking.
