High school principal sues students over MySpace page

PreviousNext

Alaska high school principal Cyd Duffin took a stand in March, 2009 against creators of a fake MySpace page in her name. She was depicted as a racist drug-user with a sexually-transmitted disease. She reportedly liked books about the Ku Klux Klan, anarchy and pornography.

The page made statements about hearing-impaired students and the racial make-up of the student body.

Cyd Duffin

Mrs. Duffin filed a lawsuit against MySpace and unknown defendents for defamation and invasion of privacy. She was quoted saying “Go ahead and hit me, but don’t hit my kids.” The case against MySpace was dismissed when they agreed to turn over their records disclosing the creators of the fake profile.
